About this service
Legal translation requires a translator who understands the legal system behind the text, not just the legal vocabulary. Italian contract drafting follows the conventions of the Italian civil law tradition. A contract drafted under English common law has different structural conventions, different implied terms, and different regulatory assumptions. Translating a distribution agreement from Italian to English for a UK counterparty is not simply a matter of finding equivalent terms: it requires a translator who understands which Italian law concepts have precise common law equivalents and which require adaptation or explanatory notation.
For notarial acts, our translators are familiar with the specific formal requirements of Italian notarial form and can produce translations that are consistent with the original document structure and wording. For court filings and judicial documents, we have experience with the procedural terminology of both Italian civil procedure and the legal frameworks of major European jurisdictions.
GDPR and data protection documentation has become a substantial part of our legal work. Privacy policies, data processing agreements, records of processing activities, and data protection impact assessments all have specific linguistic and structural requirements under the GDPR and its national implementations. Translating a UK-drafted privacy policy directly into Italian without adaptation for the Italian data protection framework and the Garante's guidance creates compliance risk.
For sworn translation requirements, our translators are registered with relevant Italian courts and provide the complete sworn translation package. We advise on apostille requirements and legalisation procedures for documents requiring official certification for international use.
Standard legal documents 4-7 working days. Notarial acts and sworn documents 5-8 working days. Complex contracts by agreement.
