Corsico, 2018. The starting point.
An office in the Milan hinterland. Three sectors. One assignment rule.
Born from industry. Not from linguistics.
digitranslation was founded in 2018 in Corsico, a municipality in the Milan hinterland known as the base for some of Lombardy's most important industrial and healthcare organisations. The location was not accidental. The founding clients were a medical device supplier who needed regulatory documentation in English and German, and a manufacturing components company entering the German market. Both situations required translators who understood the sector, not just the language.
The assignment rule that still governs every project was established in those first months: the translator must have verifiable qualification in the document domain. Not "general technical experience", not "sector familiarity". Verifiable qualification. This means documented academic or professional background in the specific field of the text being translated.
Over the years the catalogue expanded to include fashion and luxury - a natural development for a Milan-based agency - and digital and academic content. Every expansion followed the same logic: first find the qualified sector translators, then open the service to clients. Not the other way around.
Today we work with pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, fashion houses and luxury brands, industrial manufacturers, law firms, academic institutions, and digital teams entering European markets. The common thread is always the same: they need someone who understands what the document is actually saying, not just how to say it in another language.
"Sector qualification is not a competitive advantage. It is the minimum requirement for working on these documents responsibly."
